Hello everyone , These past couple of weeks have been great for the club overall with both teams doing well in their respective divisions. congratulations to jon and his team for making their way up the standings to number 2 in division 5 .
As for us in the first team , we are finally coming out of the grave we had dug ourselves in. I reckon our fielding has improved consistently during the season . Everyone has been alive and awake on the field in general. There have not been many misfieldings or drop catches as the season has progressed . Especially BEN , Rick n Ali have been exceptional.Ali stumping off my bowling was terrific.Jez,olly and Tom have also been very safe on the field which is a good sign for the future.
As regards our bowling , I think HABBY n Sheehy have been good throughout except for a couple of ordinary overs here and there.
Habby in particular bowled exceptionally well with great rhythm against acle but didnt get much reward for it however against buckenham i thought he could have had a much better first spell by his standards . Ed has also bowled with much better control than before these two weekends.Having S.P back in the side and bowling as good as we expect him to is a big positive for us .
Rob and ALI have kept their touch and been consistent . i thought Rob's ton was extraordinary as it was not an easy pitch to bat on but the way he used his hockey wrists to club the ball over mid wicket with consistency was topdraw.
However one thing i didnt like at the end of the game was the ambience in the changing room. If anyone unaware of the result had walked into our room he would have thought we had lost the game . Common guys we'd lost most of our games in may and now that we've started winning we've started whining.please cheer up and look for the positives. I dont think a team that does not stay together through thick n thin and people of who do not apreciate and enjoy each other's success can do well in a long season like ours .
"Anyone" can make mistakes and do things that should not be done but everyone must be patient and have faith in that "anyone" to make up for it . And that "anyone" can be "you"next time so please Trust your mates and stand by them.
good luck

----------------------------------- Hello everyone , Congratulations to everyone at Brooke. The victory on tuesday against Horsford was a great team effort . It was a superb all round effort on the field that kickstarted it all for us . Yet again , a fantastic first spell of bowling by Habby and Sheehy resticted them in the first overs. Pritty as usual was spot on with his line n length and with his intelligent change in pace. Monkey , i thought was excellent . The way monkey and stuart bowled together in partnership was very crucial. Neither of the two provided any easy runs to horsford hence they kept on losing wickets in an attempt to up the run rate.Ben nolan was also much better than he was against swardeston which is a good sign for the club.
FIELDING i thought was outstanding throughout the innings. The field placements and bowling changes were very good and so was the intensity in the field for which the skipper deserves a lot of credit.
BATTING , started off remarkably well with the opening pair HABBY and SHEEHY smashing the bowlers to every corner of smithy's wagon wheel. It was an outstanding opening effort But the way wickets fell after the departure of habby and sheehy ,bought back memories of the first two league games.Rick timm played an innings micheal bevan would have been proud . He kept his cool and played some exquisite shots during his stay at the crease. The way he played SPIN was especially pleasing to see . He kept on rotating strike while waiting for the one in his hitting area.ED n STUART provided good support. OLLY N Jez also played their part very well.
with this victory we are 2-1 up on horsford this season . The reason I am mentioning it here is for all of us to think we are capable of beating good teams. I have often felt some players in our team have this mindset of not giving it their best against good teams because they think somehow or the other we will lose.
NO matter how good or bad we are or how good or bad the other team is , the team that plays well on a particular day will win . NEITHER THE SIDES BETTER THAN US OR WE OURSELVES CAN REST ON OUR PAST LAURELS TO WIN OURSELVES GAMES AGAINST WEEKER OPPONENTS .
The win against horsford will surely get us back on track in saturday league aswell.

------------------------------------------------ It was quite a frustating weekend for us.Firstly, the match against cromer that we would have backed ourselves to win ( considering we beat them on both occasions last season) and get our first win of the season got washed off . Then on sunday in carter cup we got beaten comprehensively by Horsford. I reckon they just outplayed us totally in all departments and it was just a bad day for us as a team . Such mess ups and collapses can happen with any team in the world and we just need to get this loss out of our system .There were quite a few positives out of the game . HABBY played much better and looked in control completely. BEN also batted very well and played a couple of elegant drives during his stint at the crease .SHEEHY was at his devastating best playing well off both front n back foot. Even though the stats suggests otherwise but i reckon our middle order performed better and showed promise and im sure in the next few games we'll see some good knocks from our middle order batsmen.
have a good week guys.
------------------------------------------- Hello everyone , I am as disappointed as everyone else form the result we got from our first league game this saturday but having said that there is no reason for us to be disheartened. The reason for our disappointment is that we dominated the game for most part of the match except for the part when in those overs between 32 -37 we lost 6 quick wickets.
We must continue to work hard on the basics in the training sessions as whatever we have worked on so far regarding our fielding and bowling as shown great improvement throughout the the first 3 games. Again everyone was very good on the field throughout the 50 overs and bowling was also up to the mark. Habby , Ed and Rob were very good again especially Habby who was spot on with his line n length and controlled swing very well .However one area we need to work on in our bowling is extras . We gave away lot of wides which not only means an extra run but also an extra ball for the batsmen to get runs on.
As far as batting is concerned i believe starting with me everyone should take more responsibility on themselves while batting . Anyone who gets set should try n pace his innings to go till the end of overs. At the end of the day batting is about scoring runs so taking undue pressure n not playing your natural game wont help at all. so i just want everyone to play their natural game and have faith in their abilities . Shot selection holds the key to good batting . Even a technically sound batsman can get out on zero whilst not so technical batsman can get a hundred . so please do not feel like you are not good . i have a lot of faith in our team and im sure we all have the ability to do well provided we remain confident and not let our heads down .
Well played Rob to get us so close .
Its still a good start to the season we are getting more things right than wrong so cheer up and be ready to win the next game.
cheers
rd -------------------------------------- I reckon it was a very good game for us not only because we won it but also because we did very well in areas in which we were not good in the first game. I'll start with bowling first . Again , HABBY bowled very well especially towards the start of the innings n so did SHEEHY. HABBY was consistent in his line n length n bowled with great control. SHEEHY on the other end bowled with good pace n produced a few unplayable deliveries. BEN also chipped in with a few good economical overs which kept the momentum in our favour.ROB bowled well too.The biggest plus for us was fielding . We looked a different side on the field than the one against horsford. Rick , John W, John H, Ben , Rob and everyone else were all fantastic in the field . ANDY was awesome behind the stumps. He looked half his age and was extremely safe and agile.
BATTING wise i thought we could have done much better. The only thing i could possibly suggest is try n play as straight as possible because many of us were out trying to play on the on side . Also keep looking for singles as it takes away the pressure from you and disturbs the rhythm of the bowler.JOHN ,Rick n Andy should tremendous character to take us past the finish line with one wicket remaining.
congratulations everyone and im sure we will keep up the goodwork for this saturday's game.
i'll be looking forward to another high intensity training session on wednesday which shall hold us in good stead for this weekend's game.
cheers
