Saturday 24th July

Downham v Brooke

Alliance Premier

Downham won the toss and asked Brooke to bat first. We lost both
openers quickly and were 27 for 2 before Rob Panter and Ali Shearer
put on 175 for the 3rd wicket, a record partnership for this season.
Rob's 85 came from 111 balls and included 13 4s, while Ali scored 76
from the same number of deliveries faced, hitting 10 4s. The innings
fell away after these 2 were dismissed and we were 260 for 8 at end of
the 50th over. Adam Todd was Downham's best bowler, taking 4 for 56 in
11 overs.

Stuart Pritty (2 for 40 off 13 overs) and John Habershon (2 for 70 off
13 overs) opened the bowling for Brooke and initially kept the
visitors in check - at one stage they were 37 for 3. After that,
Jarred Cunningham with 96, Adam Todd 35 and Duncan Lanchester 46 saw
Downham home with one over left. Ed Sturman bowled well, taking 2 for
54 in his 11 overs. 24 points for the league leaders and 8 for us.

Saturday 17th July

Brooke v N & CW

Alliance Premier

We won the toss, asked NCWCC to bat first and they put on 101 for the
first wicket. Rahul Dewan dismissed both openers, finishing with 4 for
36 from his 13 overs, while Stuart Pritty took 3 for 44 from 12,
including a brilliant caught and bowled. John Habershon and Ed Sturman
bagged a wicket each and the last fell to a run out in the 50th over,
leaving NCWCC on a total of 238. Top batsmen for the visitors were Ali
Ponder with 53, Pete Biljon 58 and Tom Williams 45.

This total looked achievable on a good batting track, but despite
another good knock from Rahul (66 from 65 balls faced) we kept losing
wickets, with nobody else making a significant contribution. We had
180 in the 40th over, but were 8 wickets down and could not push on to
get the target or the 90% draw, ending on 202 for 9. Scott Hayes was
NCWCC's best bowler with 3 for 39.

Saturday 10th July

Cromer v Brooke

Alliance Premier

After we were put in to bat, we scored 290 all out in 49.5 overs. Rob
Panter, in brilliant form this season, held the innings together with
87 (6 4s and 7 6s) and shared stands of 69 with Ali Shearer(31) and 72
with Ben Prentice(19). Rahul Dewan hit a quick 44 from 36 balls and Ed
Sturman, John Habershon and John Andrews all batted well near the end
to help us to a very competitive total.
Cromer were 225 for 3 after 38 overs, with Richard Charlwood making
56, Dave Turner 47 and Nish Liyanage 63, and looked on track to reach
our total. Rob Panter, 5 for 68, and Rahul Dewan, 3 for 52, then
appled the pressure and the wickets started to tumble. Cromer
eventually gave up the chase and played out for a draw, finishing on
274 for 9, 16 runs behind.
A good result for us, getting 15 points for the winning draw in one of
the best matches of the season so far.

Saturday 3rd July

Alliance Premier

We won the toss and batted first, Rahul Dewan and Chris Sheehy posting

from 40 balls with 5 4s and 3 6s. Our slow bowlers applied pressure -
Stuart Pritty 0 for 42 off 13 overs and Rahul Dewan 2 for 34 off 11.
Rob was the star of the show, taking a wicket in 5 of his 7 overs and
finishing with 5 for 26 as the visitors were dismissed for 184, giving
us a 91 run win and 25 points.

Saturday 26th June

Brooke v Lowestoft

Alliance Premier

Lowestoft batted first and amassed 301 for 5 in their 50 overs. South
African Mpho Sekhoto top scored with 174, including 23 4s and 5 6s,
and his second wicket partnership with Ryan de Coteau (69) was worth
170.

In such a big total we did well to concede only 10 extras (8
wides and 2 leg byes). John Habershon took 3 wickets and Ed Sturman 2.
Our reply ended on 226 for 8 with Lowestoft getting the winning draw
and 18 points and Brooke getting 8 - just enough to move ahead of Acle
in the league. Ali Shearer made 56 from 57 balls and Rahul Dewan 40
from 45 balls before John Habershon, Stuart Pritty and Simon Key all
batted well near the end to ensure we were not bowled out. Peter Sims

Acle v Brooke

Alliance Premier

Acle won the toss and put us in to bat on a cold day with frequent
showers. Rahul Dewan and Richard Timm put together an opening stand of
91 and then Rahul and Rob Panter put on 104 for the 2nd wicket. Rahul

scored an excellent 110 not out from 92 balls, with 11 4s and 5 6s.
Ali Shearer's 35 not out near the end helped us to 289 for 2 off our
50 overs.
The home side never looked like getting near this total and made 200
for 6 at the end of their 50 overs, leaving Brooke with a winning
draw. Stuart Pritty made things tight for the Acle batsmen, taking 1
for 18 in his 13 overs. Rahul took 3 for 55, Ben Prentice 1 for 10 and
John Habershon 1 for 61. Everyone on both sides and the 2 umpires did
well to get the match finished in the poor conditions and it was a
positive result for Brooke, ending with 17 points .

Saturday 12th June

Brooke v Old Buckenham

Alliance Premier

We won the toss and put the visitors in under cloudy skies. The Old
Buckenham openers, Terry Perry and Tom Banham, put on 68 for the first
wicket but Stuart Pritty bowled well, taking 4 for 36 and they were
all out for 183 in 49 overs. Ed Sturman and John Habershon got 2
wickets each, while Rahul Dewan took 1 for 34 in his 13 overs.
The Brooke reply was dominated by Rahul Dewan's brilliant 114 not out
from 91 balls faced with 102 of the runs coming in boundaries. Rob
Panter (33) and Ali Shearer (22 not out) also batted well and we
reached 186 for 2 in only the 27th over to record our first win in the
league this season.
